Re: Wavelength Calibration Relco
I've had another thought. I have been using my Alpy with a Celestron 8 Edge HD and focal reducer x 0.7. I wonder if the optics of this set up has some effect on the spectrum and somehow distorts the wavelengths towards the blue. I can't think how this could be, but I could try the Alpy on a ...

Re: Wavelength Calibration Relco
Hi, I am using an Alpy 600 and have never been able to get an accurate calibration during the six years I've been using it. I normally use ISIS but have switched to Demetra to see if that made any difference. I have played around with different degrees of polynomial and various calibration lines. In ...

Symbiotic target list for Astroplanner software
If anyone uses Astroplanner, I've created a list of most of the symbiotic targets on the ARAS database with a declination above + 0 deg.
You can download the plan by clicking on the 'file' tab, choosing 'user defined plans' > 'download'. Search for 'symbiotic' and it will appear. I've put in the ...

Here is a spectrum of TYC 1371-69-1 from last night using an Alpy 600, Celestron 8 SCT, 1200s x 6. I can't see any Balmer lines in emission.

Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9
Hi everyone, here are some velocity plots from my Alpy spectrum from 22nd March.

Dear Pierre, will you be designing an adapter for ATIK cameras? For example 460 EX.
Thanks, John

Printing advice needed
Hi, the UVEX project is very exciting. I've read all the documentation I can find. I need advice on buying a printer for this. I've tried various 3D printing services but they usually find something wrong with the STL files, saying the thickness of various parts is incorrect, so I thought I'd buy a ...

I couldn't find Nova Per tonight (10th February) using an 8 inch SCT. I see there are no entries on AAVSO since 8th February when V band magnitude was 16.1

Re: TCP J04291884+4354232 possible nova mag 10.2
Here is my Alpy spectrum from 25th January. It is very noisy because this object is at magnitude 15.5 now. Most of the emission lines appear to have twin peaks, or look as if a higher resolution spectrum would show twin peaks. What could be the cause of this phenomenon?
