Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi Ernst, Thanks for these plots. I was aware of the recent (over the past many years) evolution of the Ha EW (thanks to similar plots that you have shared), but the more recent and dramatic evolution of the Ha V/R variation is news to me and is definitely interesting. I've talked about some observi...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Great, thanks Olivier. I too have been having bad luck with weather. I am working this week on putting together a spreadsheet for the next year or so of TESS observations, similar to the one in an earlier reply in this thread for TESS year 2. It takes some time, because the sky is big and the TESS s...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi everyone, While TESS is continuing to observe the southern ecliptic for the next ~9 months, there are some upcoming opportunities for both hemispheres that I am starting to plan for. These targets are just starting to be visible at the very end of the night, and will be observed by TESS in Novemb...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi Ernst, unfortunately, most of the Echelle spectra in BeSS only show the area around HeI6678 very incompletely, so that they can often not be used. That is unfortunate, although I had pointed this out once, but nothing has changed. t Thanks for pointing this out- I'd have to agree based on looking...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi all, This may come as no surprise to anyone who has been studying Pi Aqr for a while, but over the last 10 days it's been interesting to watch the Hydrogen alpha and beta lines shift their peaks. Just thought it was neat to see this (presumably) rotating disk structure in real time over just ~1/1...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi Ernst, I see now that since Pi Aqr is only visible at the end of the night this presents an extra challenge that I hadn't appreciated. Still, since the BRITE satellite is observing the star for the next many months (until approximately November 2020), spectra taken in July and later are still qui...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Thanks Ernst! That's a really nice dataset and presentation of the history of this system. I apologize for the redundancy for those of you on the spectro-l mailing list. Below is an update about our strategy for observing this system. We have been working to coordinate observations of Pi Aqr with ma...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi everyone, I hope you are all healthy and doing well these days. I apologize for the extended silence on my part in regards to this project. After TESS stopped observing most Be stars a few months ago I have been focusing on obtaining and analyzing the available data from the first year of the TES...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi all, Here's an update on one of the Be stars that was being intensely monitored recently- V357 Lac. The first month of TESS data is now available (from TESS sector 16; 2019-Sep-11 to 2019-Oct-07), and there will be one more month of data coming out still from sector 17. Lots of spectra were taken...

Re: Call for monitoring Be stars in the TESS sectors

Hi all, I should have mentioned this sooner, but the spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ROV4rFQ5NSyMmyUMg3zXJNeV44N16ScwXjz7UzdPj98/edit?usp=sharing) has been updated with regards to stars being observed in this current, and also the next, TESS sector. In particular I am focusing o...
