Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

Here is my latest spectrum of Vega, response corrected with the eShel2: http://astroimage.info/files/Vega.png Note that the "Pickles" A0V spectrum I used for my image response curve is low resolution and goes just short of 8405A, but this is good enough to see if the spectrum is radiometri...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan, Thanks for the feedback! RE:"I think the problem comes from the CDK which is not a 100% mirror optical formula but also contains 2 lenses which undoubtedly limits the flux in the blue below 400nm. These lenses have been optimized for imaging but not for spectroscopy. The number of ADU...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan, RE:"...to take a Vega integration, it means that you have a serious problem in your equipment.." I don't know if this is the case but I needed a longer exposure to get more than s/n on orders 55 and over with my eShel, ASI6200MM Cmos camera and Canon 135 Fl/2 dispersor lens. Here...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

Here is my 1st processed eShel spectra of Vega (note, no image response curve made yet): http://astroimage.info/files/Vega1stPROC_Ord29-Ord59.jpg I was able to process 3x100 sec 1x1bin images of Vega taken with my CDK17 at F/6.8 with my F/7 eShel Injector and 50micron thick, 15m long Thor optical fi...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

Using Francois Teyssier's 2018 post on eShel+ configuration, I was finally able to "line-up" the 3 wavelengths (6584.9A 6677.3A & 4510.7A) to the three "circles" in check2&3 of the CamRot, ThAr, & Zone tests; see: http://astroimage.info/files/check3ROT22Tfinalscreen2....

Re: ALPY/Lisa: 460Ex+414ex?

I have two Titans, One for the Alpy600 and one for the LISA in IR-mode. From Mt. Pinos, CA (Bortle 3-4 sky) I can see targets down to 15.5 magV with my 33cm aperture classical cassegrain with a 6 sec exposure. Its amazing that Robin can get down to 20th magnitude with a C-11 at F/5.5, even if there ...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: James, Please make sure your chip can handle orders 30-60, just enclosing the "duplicate" orders on the right hand side. If your using the Canon 135mm F/2 lens, you will probably need at least the ASI 2600MM. Here is the chip size difference btw yours and the ASI6200MM: http://astroima...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan,

Yes I'm going about defining LINES, DEF_LAMBDA, & DEF_ORDER .txt files. II got 50 out of 60 orders (zones matching thor) identified and
am adjusting the parameters to get more....will keep you posted and thanks for your great assistance!

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan, Thank you.....I'm ok with all the standard procedures in IsV6.1.1 until your paragraph "The aim is only the CHECK2...." I sent a private email to Christian, but understand he's a very busy person, to get more recent copies of the .LST eShel geometry files (LINES, DEF_ORDER, DEF_L...

Re: A modification for improve eShel spectrograph

To: Joan, I took the eShel out of the "wine-cooler" and rotated the ASI6200MM until I got the rotations you indicated. Rotation btw the two points in the upper order (according to PRISM Dist/Rot tool) was 360 and on the lower's two point (Order #36), I got 359.9 degrees after tightening th...
