Re: Light polution spectral calibration
Hi Miguel, I've played around with background spectra when tried to use it for calibration. One that you could do easily is processing any fainter target A-star spectra with AND without 'Sky not removed" checkbox at ISIS 2. General tab, then just subtract one from the other (ISIS Tools, one of ...

Re: Hello from Hungary
Thanks Robin, meanwhile I've also found a similarly cheap USB relay here:

From here it's only cabling work - that we amateurs do every day.

Re: Hello from Hungary
Quick Update:
I'm just through the lamp pdf, there are already 12V input for remote control, only the two USB - 12V switching must be resolved.
Assume already have such on device the market, interesed only where to get from.

Re: Hello from Hungary
Hi Miguel, I've got some material of NovaCyg on Fri (cloudy) + Sat evening, managed to try a Hg lamp on Sat (surprised later it's not a Ne lamp), using A4 papers as diffuser (ambient light needed too much exposure). Still learning the workaround in ISIS for Hg, looks that He/Ar hardwired by code for...

Re: Hello from Hungary
Robin, good to know there are existing solutions for remote lamp! Miguel, thank you for the advice, some solution for a cal. light will be my next step then! So far my spectra has already been calibrated by Balmer + telluric lines of the ref. star in ISIS as you mentioned, understanding it's not the...

Re: Hello from Hungary
Hi Miguel, yes the mount + optics is really cost effective (was no reason to go with lower aperture when bought it), maybe what I'm suspecting is that some of the f/4 is cut on the guide module (Alpy is optimized for f5). Regarding calib lamp: I've read it now, and haven't found remote control possi...

Re: Hello from Hungary
Hi Miguel, Thanks, I've already collected some Alpy spectra including yours to build some change diagram, good that more of us have similar instruments! Wish I had a scope in Spain, the satellite picture is usually so nice over there when looking at sat24 while the hope of a clear sky is lost here :...

Re: First results with Alpy600
Hi, just introduced myself, now sending the very first spectra Nova Cyg 2014 and being curious whether it's ok for the database (+ will have Z And and CI Cyg of the same night): _novacyg_20140707_067_psomogyi.png I had to write a script to solve DATE-OBS field because the Orion studio puts there a d...

Hello from Hungary
Hi Forum, My name is Peter Somogyi, an amateur from Hungary. I was born in 1976, graduated as Programmer Mathematician and working permanently as a Software Developer (for 10 years in Linux). Near my job, I've gained interest slowly and undeniably in astronomy since 2009, doing deepsky photography b...
