Re: Zeta Tauri - my first Be star spectrum

Hi Hugh I'm not an alpy user but welcome to the Be Star observations. You are right on the double peak width as it shows below on a hires spectra from BeSS. I'm posting as well the alpy spectrum from C.Buil taken recently. Congratulations. Do not hesitate to look at the BeSS data to compare. V. zet_...

Re: Be Star 69 ori

Very nice spectrum... and thank you for the confirmation. I did not observe from paris for a while, so I was a little bit "rusty".
The first observation was in feb 2008 and there are 18 spectra since then in BeSS... all in absorption.

Thanks Tim

Be Star 69 ori

Hi
I made a spectrum of 69 Ori saturday 24th Jan 2015 - and I was surprise to see an emission profile. All spectra in beSS shown an absorption one. I double checked my field but you never know...
So if someone can confirm, that would be great !
Thanks
Valerie

Re: Comment ISIS calcule t il le pouvoir de résolution ?

Hi
I do not know for ISIS. But you are right the resolution power shall come with the wavelength at which it is computed. That's why in BeSS we have two keywords for this. One for the resolution and one for the wavelength.

Re: More LHiRes focus questions

Hi Mike Even if you perform the focus looking at the star (assuming you did the guiding camera correctly focused on the slit) , I always recommend to tweak looking at the spectrum itself. I always do it at the beggining of the observing session. I iterate to make sure I have both a thin spectrum and...

Re: drag and drop in Visual Spec

Hi Long time not being on the forum... sorry. I noticed this myself. I will investigate but yes it is around the security with the windows OS. If I run in non admin mode, I can do the drag and drop... and as all the dlls are registerered the first time you run vspec in admin mode, then maybe not nec...

Re: ISIS, BeSS standard and observatory coordinates

Hi My recommendation would be to use the standard fits keyword sitelat and sitelong... and NOT beSS keywords. BSS_Lat and BSS_Long are specific to BeSS because they are related to a site descriptor in the BeSS database, that's why they are "BSS_" specific. I could not find the SITELAT and ...

Be star V442 and

During the OHP spectro party, I observed V442 and on 27th and 30th of July. The latest spectrum in BeSS was in absorption and now the h-alpha line is in emission with increase between the 2 last observations. Weather is not permitting to follow tonight... we are probably capturing the emission event...
