Outburst of V442 And

Post by Thierry Garrel »

Once again, V442 And seems to enter in an outburst phase. Very intersting star who known in the last two years two outburst !
http://arasbeam.free.fr/spip.php?page=b ... toile=1908 Note that last observation from Valérie Desnoux was from Oct 1st

I was lucky to discover both last ones, Christian Buil and Valérie Desnoux, apart, have seen two ancients outburst of this star in the last two decades.
So observations are highly recommended to constraint a possible period and to describe this new phase.

Thanks for the alert !

I have observed the same night after your message (LISA + C11 F/10). The outburst is well confirmed.
(the continuum is rectified on the plot).

Sounds good ! :D
Harmanec and all did discovered this Be star and its recurrent outburst. A good labs for Be phenomon study. A period of 2.8d in the metallic and HeI is confirmed but no period in H alpha was determined due to lack of observation.
Some literacy:

And

Hello
Great outburst. I'm really surprise to see "how fast" it can happen. I would be really curious to know if this happening in one nigth or over several days. For sure, now, we know it is less than one month !
As for QR Vul, it is is very interesting to see how long the disk will be there.

Hello

Few more curves to show past evolution of the last outburst.
In one month the emission seemed to have increased suddenly. So it is interesting to monitor the star almost on daily basis if it is a same type of outburst. This a time scaled profiles diagram, with some key dates added. Spectra come from BeSS. Atmospheric lines are removed and the heliocentric speed is corrected through Vspec.
