strange spectrum in the literatur

Dear colleagues,
in the literature I found within a certain publication the präsentation of Halpha EW measurements of P Cygni (see attachment).

I have strong doubts that the presented Halpha spectrum of 2017-04-30 corresponds the reality. The enormous absorption within the Halpha profile seems to be very unlikely.
Unfortunately there are no spectra in the ARAS data base around that date. Could P Cygni observers to be so friendly to have a look into their own privat data pool in order to find a Halpha spectrum around that date?

Many thanks for your effort,
Ernst Pollmann

Hi Ernst,

Could you please give a link to this paper?
Is it a paper done by a professionnal observatory?

Cheers,

Benji

I would like to meet the "peer reviewers" of that paper who let this through. The whole paper looks very poor quality. Clearly that spectrum is wrong. Probably saturation at the peak of the emission line has set the pixel values to 0 in this region but how any professional astronomer could think this is real is beyond me. Is this journal real or is it another of these internet spam journals?

From the author list it would seem this is the PhD student who took the spectra

Robin,
yes I know, the spectrum has been taken by Anna Pannicke.
Meanwhile I have written some corresponding lines to team of authors. Let´s see whether they will answer.
