Hi all,
A paper on the 2014 eta Car periastron has just been published in ApJ. Among other things, it highlights yet another successful pro-am collaboration. Members of the SASER that contributed spectra to this campaign included Paul Luckas (Perth), Bernard Heathcote (Melbourne), Malcolm Locke, (Canterbury, New Zealand) Jonathan Powles (Canberra), and Terry Bohlsen (Armidale).
Paper details:
Teodoro, M., et al. "He II λ4686 EMISSION FROM THE MASSIVE BINARY SYSTEM IN η CAR: CONSTRAINTS TO THE ORBITAL ELEMENTS AND THE NATURE OF THE PERIODIC MINIMA." arXiv preprint arXiv:1601.03396 (2016).
A link to the recently published paper can be found here:

Plans are already underway to contribute data for the forthcoming apastron, and further leading up to the next periastron of this enigmatic star in 2020.
Anyone interested in joining should drop by the SASER web site: http://saser.wholemeal.co.nz
Regards,
Paul
