RR Lyrae maximum night 5 to 6 august 2013 / Alpy 600

Post by Olivier Thizy »

Here is an acquisition of the RR Lyrae maximum that occured during the night of 5th to 6th august 2013 (during OHP spectroscopy workshop).

Equipment: Televue 85mm refractor, NEQ6 mount and Alpy 600 spectrograph with Atik 460EX camera.

The first is the animation of each spectra done with ISIS:

Second is a 2D spectrogram showing the Balmer lines shifting toward the blue until the shock wave; the Balmer lines don't show emission in my spectra but show they are filled up at that time:

Hi Olivier,
Three absorption lines at right of H alpha in the dynagraph are shifted too. If tellurics it seems that the calibration has move during observation. Could you corfirmed ?
Secondly, an intense emision line appeared in the interpolated animation during three frames. Could it be a bias of interpolating method with a cosmic added on frames between and after the strike ?

Amitiés
Thierry
