Recurrent nova U Sco in eruption

Post by Francois Teyssier »

U Sco is signaled in nova eruption
The novae events of U Sco are very fast.
Thus monitoring on several hours during the night will be very usefull,
to be followed bu our colleagues in America and Australia.
Spectra of the event welcome on the database !

And a spectrum taken from Chile this morning with a Prism scrip (automatically made by Prism Software with no human intervention)

We will try it from France with eShel spectrograph, but the target is very low in altitude.....

j'ai essayé d'envoyer notre spectre à la base ARAS sans succès, à chaque fois on a un message d'erreur de gmail disant que notre message n'as pu être délivré.

Great early spectra ! The evolution is very fast in just a few hours compared with the description of the spectrum in ATel 15420 taken 2022-06-7.48
https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=15420

It might be too low for me but I will try if the clouds clear

Very fast evolution of U Sco (and a very special spectrum), from Antibes (France), Star'Ex spectrograph on a Celestron 9.25 telescope, the 7.880-06-2022:

Nice work everyone!

Changes are occurring rapidly!

Here is a comparison of flux calibrated spectra over two nights as the V magnitude dropped from 7.957 +/- 0.072 to 9.484 +/- 0.024 taken with a LISA and processed using ISIS.
