Z CMa in outburst
Hello,
in the AAVSO forum there is an alert about a new outburst of Z CMa (tyoe InA). The star has abruptly raised from mag. 9.7 to 8.4.
After eluding clouds I took the following spectrum. The resolution is low due to a technical problem (I am currently obtaining spectra with R>800) and I'm not sure about the response correction because I utilize HD 56405 (A1 V) as comparison star, but in ISIS I don't have the instrumental response to a A1V star, and I had to use a A2 V instead.
Greetings and clear skies,
Fran

Nice job Fran!
I'm still waiting for my Titan adapter
from Sheylak for my newly purchased LISA
visual spectroscope.
I did shoot it a night ago with a SA200 grating on with my
ST-10xme on a C-11 with a F/6.3 reducer. Here is my
super low resolution image:

Good job, James,
The SA200 is a fine tool to get spectra from dim stars, specially supernovae... and very comfortable to use, attached in a filterwheel.
Greetings
Fran

Hi James,
Sorry to hijack the thread but I am interested in what dispersion people get with various setups using the SA200 in filter wheels. 25.8A/pixel is really low. With 6.8 um pixels that works out as a spacing of only 13mm which is a tough application even for the SA200. At least you are still picking up the main features though.
Cheers
Robin

Molt bé Fran !!
Here in Piera, we had fog overnight. Tonight I will try to observe with the Mussol.
Joan.

Thank you, Etienne.
But, unfortunately, the graphic is not made with the Eshel, is made with the Mussoll. That is a long time already Echelle what I built. Look at, " ISIS AND A NEW ECHELLE", in this Forum.
Now I'm building another Echelle, the LINX can see the mechanical part in, "Nouveau Echelle Linx", in this Forum too.
Regards, Joan.

To: Robin,
RE:".... 25.8A/pixel is really low. With 6.8 um pixels that works out as a spacing of only 13mm which is a tough application even for the SA200."
Yes I agree....I usually take 3x60sec exposure after my BVI sequence is done. Since this was Bin 2x2, the spectra it really low resolution; definitely no eshel!
Tonight I set it for 3x90sec 1x1 bin to tease anything else but the major Ha.
Meanwhile my LISA is sitting in its case waiting for the guider adapter to arrive from France!

Ah OK, so the spacing works out at ~26mm. It will be interesting to see how the unbinned spectrum turns out.James Foster wrote:Since this was Bin 2x2, the spectra it really low resolution; definitely no eshel!
