Hi,

This is the aspect of NOVA Sct 2017 on the last night, wiht the SC16 and the Mussol echelle.

Regards, Joan.

Great spectra from Catalunya... congratulation Fran, Joan!

Yes, the brightening phase goes on. The photometry for yesterday (July 26, ~ 21 UT):

H-beta and Fe II (42) region. Lhires III 1200 (R ~4200).

Measures on P-Cyg absorption minimum of heliocentric corrected spectrum:

H-beta Rv ~ -270 Km/s
Fe II (42) Rv ~ -245 Km/s

A spectrum taken during OHP spectro party with Stéphane Charbonnel and Pascal Le Dû.
Many wind during all the night...
I will try this night with my eshel spectrograph.

Effondrement de la raie H Alpha sur mon dernier spectre de la nuit dernière en comparaison des 3 autres spectres obtenu avec le même set up depuis le 14 juiller.

Collapse of the H alpha line on my last spectrum last night in comparison to the 3 other spectra obtained with the same set up since the 14th July.

Hi,

This graph is the comfirmation of Olivier's observations.

Regards, Joan.

Well done Umberto. Olivier, very nice the OHP joint venture spectrum!

The comparison of your great echelle spectra (Olivier and Joan) show very well the effect of the continuum raising.

I have another example with Lhires III (1200 l/mm 26/7, 600 l/mm 4/7). The same spectra compared in absolute flux and rescaled to unity at ~ 5000A.

Yesterday (July 28, ~ 21 UT) I measured V mag 8.70, perhaps the maximum brightness until now.

The ARAS database database begin to be well "supplied". I think this interesting nova deserves to be observed in this peculiar phase.

I took another spectra of this interesting nova last night using my LHIRES at ~R=14000. The strength of the Ha line has dropped significantly compared to the continuum.

Dramatic changes of nova Sct 2017 also observed during the OHP spectro star party (Observatoire de Haute-Provence) from 22 to 28 July (FSQ106ED refractor, Alpy600, ATIK460EX/ASI290MM):

Close look of 27.8 July spectrum (note NaI doublet separation, Alpy600 resolution pushed near R=1000, thanks to use of a small refractor, a 18 microns slit and small 2.9 microns pixel of AIS290MM):

Me and Valerie are now the only the valorous observers on the Spectro Star Party site (last night) ;-) :

Hi Christian, nice to see you, Valerie and other friends in the workshop photos! I miss the OHP meeting...

The nova exhibited a large increase in brightness. I measured V mag 10.31 and 8.70 for the evening of July 22 and 28 respectively.

My last observation on July 28 with Lhires III and 1200 l/mm grating, fluxed thanks to a low-res spectrum (Alpy 600) by Lorenzo Franco taken in the same night.

H-gamma region with a lot of absorption lines (iron and other metals, I imagine).
