Last spectrum of V442 And taken last night. The V component collapses.
Here's a comparison from my last observation the 26th.

Hello,

V442 And is still showing emission in Halpha. While the V+R seems now more stable, the distance (speed) between the two peaks seems to increase.

V442 And Be star in outburst - update

Hello all,

a quick update on V442 Andromedae which went into outburst end of august. The outburst seems done now (to be confirmed) but one spectrum per week would confirm it. Here is the spectrum from last night with no emission visible:

Once the outburst end if confirmed, it would be great to have an intensive two weeks monitoring to get the quiescence phase monitoring folded over the 2.6 days period. I have the feeling that this intensive monitoring whould be done soon so be ready... :-)

Cordialement,
Olivier

To: Olivier,

Here is a Ha I took of V0442 And (weather misty and object low):

I'll try to get one or two more on this object before we're totally clouded out in California. Let me know if you need any more info.

James,

thank you for the observation. Please send the reduced profile in BeSS/FITS format to me and upload it on BeSS database.

Cordialement,
Olivier

Here are my latest observations of V0442 And with LhiresIII with 2400 l/mm grating:
CaK(note: All non-balmer lines shown are speculative):

Ha(Note: H2O lines removed and low pass gaussian applied---low altitude spectra):

Per suggestion, I used beta TAU for my IRC star, shot shortly after the Cak/Ha of 0442 And was done (same night):

I used the Elodie (mybase) database for Ha (R=11000) and MILES (IAC) data for CaK region for the B7 III star HD216831, for beta TAU (B7 III) image response curve generation.

Last outburst of V442 And and the message of Noel Richardson for the last alert :

"Hi everyone,

Many of you will remember that Olivier Thizy found V442 And (HD 6226) in outburst last summer. The intense spectroscopic time-series along with some other measurements made at the time prompted myself and some colleagues to propose for Hubble Space Telescope ultraviolet spectra, which are scheduled for sometime between now and March 17.

As we were aiming to get the fundamental parameters of the star well constrained with Hubble, we obtained a complimentary optical spectrum with the echelle spectrograph at Apache Point last night. The disk is back and strong, and I am asking for the ARAS group to monitor the star again over the coming weeks, both to have contemporaneous data with Hubble and to monitor another outburst. I've attached images of H-alpha and H-beta taken last night at APO. I'll be using our telescope in Toledo, along with some other colleagues in North America, but this time of year usually gets pretty bad for monitoring here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Clear skies,

Noel Richardson, University of Toledo"

Bonnes observations Olivier !!

Ici, il y a 10 jours, je ne peux pas voir. Le temps ne s'améliorera pas avant mardi prochain.

Salutations, Joan.
