Olivier, great! Finally a nova for eShel...
From my location the sky is totally covered by clouds... waiting your result!
Good luck with your work!

The nova is very bright.
Here's a screen shot of the autoguiding screen.

Thanks for sharing! Is H-alpha line already evident on 2d spectrum?
Continuous sequence of time resolved hi-res spectra will be very interesting.

a VERY VERY easy target and suitable to all spectrograph.

Here is a 300sec exposure with a very small 85mm refractor and our new Alpy 600 spectrograph.
I quickly processed with last night calibration (I'll do the calibration in about one hour) and the result is impressive with only one exposure:

and here is the guiding field of view:

Everyone at their spectrograph!!! :-)

Le même spectre mais avec 1h de pose (12 poses de 5min) maintenant...

Same spectrum but with 1h (12*300sec) total exposure now...

Steve Shore recommends to also take a spectrophotometric standard when taking spectra of this nova. He points to BD28d4211 (for low resolution spectrograph like Alpy 600 and LISA of course):
http://www.eso.org/sci/observing/tools/ ... d4211.html

BD+28 4211
alpha(2000) = 21h 51m 11.07s
delta(2000) = +28d 51' 51.8''
V = 10.51, B-V = -0.34, Spectral type: Op
