Hello,

Here is a synthesic overview of Ha's behaviour since last August 15th.

Image

It corresponds to 51 hours observations where only one spectrum (600s exposure) per hour were selected for this graph.
We then have a movie of nova's life during 7h every day.
If some observers living in USA could do such runs, it would be great for Science!

Cheers,

Benji

Hello,

well... I must have some weather's god attention or some luck at the moment... here is my 10th night in-a-row on the nova!!!

Here is the update of the graph with 10 spectra (one per night):

I also updated my colored graph with the 10 spectra, it shows very nicely the evolution:

Equipment is:
-Televue 85mm refractor
-Alpy 600 spectrograph
-Atik 460ex camera for acquisition

Cordialement,

I have 22 spectras of the nova since august the 14th and to show the evolution of Ha line, and I have tried to achieve a dynamic range of all my data. (nine days of observations)

I have just finish to process my image of H & K lines. It was a bit hard for me because it is the first time I went to that corner of the spectrum, my signal was quite weak and the calibration was perilous.
Anyway, I got something coherent in both VisualSpec, SPCAudace and ISIS (and a good old SPIris from an old hard disk ...)
The forecast is bad between Bordeaux and Cognac for two days. I will wait for Monday. The telescope remains in the configuration of Friday, it should be better but I surely have to push the exposure time.

Olivier, dynamic spectrum is fantastic!
Eric, you capture CN emission at 3886A? This night, with Lhires III 600 it seems not visible...
Someone can confirm?

Eric, very important. Evaluate your 2D and look if the feature near 3880 A is real (a cosmic rays, ...).

Presently, from Toulouse and on only one 300 sec. cloudy exposure (!) near H&K with eShel I detect anything.

Spectre échelle en date du 25.958 :

Echelle spectrum for the date August 25.958:

Image

Aspect of Halpha line and fast evolution (the intensity continue to increase relative to continuum):

Image

Evolution of 4200 A region from 22.9 to 24.9 August:

and the ratio for the two date:

Some variation (note a feature at 4385.5 A) but not CN line at 4216 A for the
moment.
