Spectrum of V1369 Cen taken on December 14, 2013 (07:10 UT) by Rogerio Marcon (acq´n) and Tasso Napoleao (red´n). Single exposure 600s, guided. Observing site: Campinas, SP, Brazil (22.792271 S, 47.070032 W, height 597m). Spectroscope R=11 000 (grating 2400 l/mm), Newtonian scope 315mm, Audine camera (KAF 1602), all equipment built by R. Marcon. Pre-treatment and reduction made with Maxim DL and VSpec 4.1.2.

H-Alpha continues strenghtening as compared to previous spectra.

Regards,
Tasso.

...and this is just a graphical multiplot made with our four profiles above, showing the H-Alpha line evolution since Dec 5 to Dec 14, 2013.

Best regards to all,
Tasso.

It becomes a good series !
Congratulation
Unfortunatly, theres's not a lot of observers in southern hemisphere where novae are !

If think there's only one exposure of 600 sec ? If yes, it should be good to improve the SNR, stacking several images

All the best and
bonne continuation

François

I've been clouded out since the 12th Dec....must be this "Cloud Magnet" I brought back to Oz from Belgium!!
Finally processed some lo-res spectra from the 7/8/12th.
I've put the 300 l/mm grating (R=1000) in the Spectra-L200 in readiness of the next clear night....

Tasso,
Well done!
The nova appears to be fading. Let's hope we can obtain spectra for a long time yet.......

As Ken mentioned, the nova has faded to about mag 5 after reaching a peak of 3.3 - 3.4 by Dec 14. H-Alpha still strenghtening.

I will be traveling for a couple of days but expect to post some new spectra soon after the holidays.

Merry Christmas to all !

Tasso.

Here's my time series so far. The quality of the data and calibration from the 3rd and 4th Dec is very bad, the others are just bad. But it at least shows some kind of evolution.

I've been clouded out since the 14th, and no immediate end in sight. Seems that eastern Australia and New Zealand are in a bit of a bad weather pattern at the moment.

Here are some results for review and discussion...

I have a medium res around Hb (showing P Cygni?) and the He and Fe emissions (look at the shape of the peaks - absorption?)
Moved across towards the Na region - again some profile detail...
Finally around the Ha (again some P Cygni?) - the emission is still so strong, I zoomed into show some of the underlying detail....
Processed with BASS Project.
Feedback welcome....

Interesting that the P Cyg profile in H_alpha seems to disappear from Rogerio and Tasso's spectra from Dec 17th onwards, but seems to be back in Ken's from Dec 24th.
