ProAm-Project gamma Cas

Radial velocity (RV) measurements as collaboration of Roland Buecke and E. Pollmann (both Germany) will be part of the professional project in 2013: "Triggered XMM-Newton satellites observations of gamma Cas".
Optical monitoring (among others RV & Halpha EW) can be used to determine a relation between optical and X-ray properties. PI of the project: Dr. Myron Smith, Catholic University of America.

Here we wants to introduce the current state of our RV monitoring, analysed with Mathcad (see attachment):

Fig. 1 represents the monitored radial velocity with its 203.34 d period
Fig. 2 represents the residuals between RV and period fit of Fig. 1, and its longterm trend (polynom 3. order).
Fig. 3 represents the monitored RV, corrected with polynom of Fig. 2
Fig. 4 represents the phase plot of the longterm corrected RV

Results:
Period = 203.34 d
K1 = 3.84 km/s
To = 2454612.93
rms = 1.55 km/s

The amplitudes are temporarily apparently larger, caused of RV variations, as superimposition to the actual period. The causes are still unknown. It could be, that changes of line profile are responsible for this. In order to exclude possible instrumental influences, it must be monitored still longer. In addition, changes of the Halpha line profile could be responsible for it. The period however is in very well agreement with measurements of Harmanec et al. [1], Miroshnichenko et al. [2], Nemravowa et al. [3] & Smith et al., [4]
