caméra guiding LhiresIII

Bonjour,

Je cherche une caméra de guidage pour mon LhiresIII avec le plus grand capteur possible pour ne pas mettre des heures à trouver l'étoile à étudier. Pour l'instant j'ai une DFK21 avec un tout petit capteur et c'est pas top, même si on y arrive.
J'ai vu cette caméra Caméra Starlight Xpress CoStar à 367€ ; c'est un capteur CMOS à 1304 x 1024 pixels à 5.2uM x 5.2uM.
Qu'en pensez vous ? Pour des poses de 1 seconde ça devrait le faire mais pour des poses de 5 à 10 secondes pour trouver des étoiles faibles est ce que j'aurai des pixels chauds et du bruit partout ?

J'ai pas trop de retour sur cette caméra, mais tu peut également utiliser une ATIK 314L, le champ ne sera guère plus grand qu'avec ta DFK21 mais la sensibilité sera bien plus grande.

Si tu as un problème avec ta monture sur la qualité de pointage, tu peut t'en sortir an utilisant un chercheur électronique : une CCD avec une optique photo dont la focale sera à ajuster en fonction de la qualité de pointage de ton set up.
En gros tu dégrossis le pointage avec le chercheur puis tu affines avec la CCD d'autoguidage.

Tu peut également faire du goto indirecte, par exemple pour pointer M57, lance un goto sur Vega, centre celle ci et synchronise ensuite ta monture, puis tu lances un nouveau goto sur M57 et là tu es sur d'avoir la cible dans le champ de ta CCD d'autoguidage.

Hello Etienne,

A few things to consider:
- first make sure you've installed the upgrade kit; which is a reducer
- my 1/2" Lodestar X2 camera already show blank edges when rotating camera to have the slit vertical; so you shouldn't buy any bigger (with the upgraded optics)
- a fast reader camera should be preferred, not a slow one (guide requires quick response)
- I wouldn't attach any heavier camera there (scope focuser already stressed, LHires guide adapter already introducing mechanical skew when switching targets being far, works only for lightweight camera well) but I admit cooling can be useful for readout.
- consider your targets: when you prefer high res / narrow slit, QE is needless
- consider that the noise you see, is not only the readout noise. That noise is also coming because the too few photons (determines not just QE, but the most serious limit will be the scope mirror..)

There are 3 real options to come over the small guide field (for finding target):
- buy precise mechanics, tune hard and install everything firm and permanent (option for a very few people, I think)
- electric finder (mark the middle by software - no need for mechanical centering; that's what I do); teaching around target with 0-7 mag stars
- astrometry.net , use astrotortilla or other nonfree solutions (that's what variable observers do, requires internet connection) - I don't do this, but what I heard it recognizes where your scope points from guide image, then teaches the position, if you do it many times pointing accuracy will be extreme after a time (today I'm sticking with the electric finder - that's what always work... but others could try to go for the astrometry solution directly)

Je penses que la Lodstar II est un bon choix, ou peut être une Atik d'occasion à coupler avec un chercheur. Il va falloir économiser...

La Caméra Starlight Xpress Ultrastar Mono à l'air bien aussi avec un grand capteur.
