Alt Az bug in Cartes du Ciel ?

Post by Robin Leadbeater »

A bit off topic but I am guessing there are quite a few CdC users here. Has anyone noticed that the Alt Az coordinates for the cursor position (bottom left) are wrong if the map is zoomed out?

Cheers
Robin

Hi Robin,

I can reproduce your error. You get the correct Azimut and altitude in the corner at left bottom if you switch your coordinates from EQ to AZ (button on the left menu bar). Of course, the azimuth should not depend on this selection. You should report the bug to CdC. My version is V3.11.

I also found that HD37115 (TYC 4778-1369-1) - a suspect Be star in Orion doesn't show in the CdC Hipparcos catalogue, but it does show when you change back to the ol' Tycho catalogue.....

Hi Ken

HD37115 is a known Be star
http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-b ... BAD+search
but is not in the hipparcos catalogue (too much nebulosity in that area to distinguish faint stars?)

Hi Martin

Patrick Chevalley has acknowledged the bug but reports it should be absent from the latest beta version. he says:-

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Robin,

I can reproduce the problem with the version 3.10 but not with the latest beta
3.11-3332
Can you install it from https://sourceforge.net/projects/skychart/files/0-beta/

Probably the early 3.11 version also exhibit this problem, but 3.11 change
almost every week and the first version with this number are more than two year
old. I know I take way too much time with this new version and I will make a new
release soon.
