PlotSpectra 1.4.1 available (bug fix)

Post by Tim Lester »

Hi All,

New release here: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvXqhKI5kEGRjEhdaQ6jaj8AHx_L

Some bugs were pointed out to me (thanks).
I also encountered FIT files that PlotSpectra would not read because of problems in the Fit header.
I have made the Fit reader more robust so that it will do its best to read these files anyway. Let me know if you encounter files PlotSpectra will not read.

Sorry for the frequent updates.

Hi all,
Just a remark about associating fits with plotspectra...

Its a little invasive if we had another choice before ! Perhaps ask at installation if it's desired by user. Thanks.

Hi

In response to JPG.

Nothing in the install program associates FIT or FITS files with PlotSpectra. On my system where I have installed and uninstalled the program countless times FIT files remain associated with Maxim DL and FITS with Pixinsight as they always have been.
I'm not sure what is happening on your system to cause the behavior you describe. Perhaps If you had no previous association for FITS files Windows recognised this usage and set the association automatically. I'm not sure if Windows does this but that's all I can think of.
It is because I did not want to associate FIT or FITS files with PlotSpectra that I provided an option in settings to add PlotSpectra as an item on the right click 'send to" menu.

Hi Tim,
Could you compile PlotSpectra 1.4.1 to 32 Bits?
Many thanks, Joan

Joan,

I thought I had complied PlotSpectra to work on any platform but it turns out that the installer program was set for 64 bit.
But when I set it for 32Bit everything compiles without errors but the installer does not work.
I'll post here when I figure out what's going on.

Tim,
Is it possible to have wavelengths in UV in your logiciel ?
For QSO with redhsift (OV, lyman alpha, NV, Si IV, CIV,...)
