Re: LhiresIII modification for remote micrometer control
My Lhires was purchased before this adaptation was made.
I will contact them to see if I can make the mod.
I have taken the doors off ! ! and keep the Lhires permanently in a film changing bag to ensure its light tight, it works ok.

To: Jack,
Nice! I used to have one of these when I did color slide duplication in the old film days!
I just replaced the Atik Titan guider with the very small Atik GP guider. Its so tiny that I'm pretty sure causes much less differential flexture as the Titan. The Titan is much less noisy guider, actively cooled, and more sensitive, but I will use it soon on the Alpy600 I plan to purchase next month and convert my LISA to IR work only.

James,
Can you post picture(s) of the door and Lhires showing exactly how the magnets are installed.

Re: LhiresIII modification for remote micrometer control
Hi James,
This looks the same as the original LHIRES III design to me eg

from
http://astrosurf.com/thizy/lhires3/index-en.html
Which components are now magnetic ?
Thanks
Robin

To: Robin,
RE:"Which components are now magnetic ?"
I think none!....check for magnetism with some lock washers around the LiresIII doublet opening and the door
iteslf....no "stickiness" in the components.
Even without magnetic components, my doublet door sometimes is very hard to detach, which led me to think it
was magnetized.

Re: LhiresIII modification for remote micrometer control
Ah, Mine are quite loose and would potentially fall off without tightening the thumb screw. Perhaps I could add a thin seal as a shim to make them tighter. The screws are certainly a nuisance in the dark.
Cheers

James,
Thanks for the pics.
The doors are the same on my Lhires, and not magnetic.
