Hello,

This past night, I was able to observe the N CMa2018. I have been able to make two integrations of 2000 seconds with the LINX of Sta. Maria, before the sky clouded and 5 integrations also of 2000 seconds, with MUSSOL de Piera. The blue graph is the result of the sum of all seven.

Certainly Olivier, the difference of a few degrees of latitude between us two, is very decisive. But Forrest has a lot better, (L = + 33º).

As it can already be seen in the graphs of Forrest, (days 20180327 and 20180329), the intensity of the lines of the Hydrogen is falling very depressed.

Hello,

The star is making its evolution. The last night, in blue, shows the Hydrogen again in ascent.
The last graphic is the sum of the results of the two telescopes. The signal is weak, but I think it's enough to give a very schematic idea of its evolution.

Here is my data of this Nova CMa 2018 taken on 29Mar18:

I used a nearby B5III star HD058612 for my instrument response as this was a few degrees east of the nova and at similar declination.
My resolution, computed by IS V1.91, came out to be a little less than 400, which I believe do to the poorly calibrated LISA depicts an unusually low
spectral resolution in error so I used the value of R=600 in the graph header. Ill shot this again if it ever clears here in SoCal now that I've properly calibrated the LISA.

Hello all,

I acquired fresh data last night on N CMa 2018 in a very narrow window of no clouds at the time just after dusk when this target is available to me. I used HD041692 as the Reference star. As Joan points out there are changes going on in the spectrum. The identification lines are just proposals but they look significantly different from the data I acquired on 29180329_129. I do not know what the two emission lines might be between Hbeta and the FeII 5169 line. I will check again for hot pixels, just in case.

Here is my LISA spectrum for Nova CMa 2018 taken on 04Apr18:

All non-balmer lines are speculative. The strong feature near 5463A is telluric Hg from city light pollution in the south towards the Port of Long Beach, California.
The Hy feature is still very strong. I used the nearby star HD059612, at -24 Declination, for my instrument response correction.

Hello,
Here is my data on N CMa 2018 from last night just after dusk. I used HD041692 again for a Reference star. In just 3 nights since the last data the airmass spread has increased between this star and the target at the mid point of each image sequence. But it was still the best positioned Miles star to use as a reference. The H Balmer emission lines look to have diminished considerably since my first data on 2018-03-27.126. The Sodium Na lines are however much more pronounced.

An alert from Steve Shore
According to this recent ATel, the nova is about enter dust formation phase
Spectra at high resolution, especially [OI] 6300 -6363 and Na I D ranges should be welcome.
The nova is still near mag V 11, so not easy, but possible

Optical and IR spectra from 0.47-2.5 microns (resolution: 5-30 angstroms)
of Nova Canis Majoris (CBET 4499), were obtained 2018 April 21.14 (UT)
with the Aerospace Corporation's 1.0 m telescope using its Visible and
Infrared Imaging Spectrograph (VNIRIS). Although weak, Fe II lines are
present confirming the classification of Nova CMa 2018 by Strader et al.
(CBET 4499) as an Fe II nova. Other low excitation features include C
I, N I, O I, Na I, and Ca II. The forbidden lines of [O I] lines at 0.6300,
0.6363 microns are detected as well as the [N I] line at 1.040 microns.
In addition to the stronger H I lines, P-Cygni profiles are seen on the
C I and O I lines as well. The first overtone of carbon monoxide is strongly
in emission indicating that dust formation could soon take place.
