ISIS problem at start

Post by Timo Kantola »

Hi all!
I start my ISIS training with a simple (silly) question.
How to number images so that ISIS finds them?
Now i have in traning folder pics:
Sun-1
Sun-2
Sun-3
Sun-4 .. -> Sun-7
Flat-1
Flat-2
Flat-3
Flat-4... -> Flat-7
Dark-1
Dark-2
Dark-3
Dark-4 ...-> Dark-14
Offset-1
Offset-2
Offset-3
Offset-4...-> Offset-13
Calibration-1
Calibration-2
Calibration-3
Calibration-4

If i open Sun-1 pic, and klick Next button - ISIS says " Sun-11 not found". If i rename pic Sun-7 -> Sun-11, then ISIS is happy, and move on, but..
2.General page ISIS assume that Sun-11 is calibration image?
Whether it should go like this?

Hi Timo,

I think the name given to the calibration image can be problematic because it's similar to the name of the target.
So rename your calibration image (sun-11) like "Sun_calib" or something like that.

In your screen shot, the number of sun picture is wrong (should be 7 not one)

Offset4 is not a master offset but individual exposure, you have to build a master offset and master dark (see the MASTERS menu)

Thanks Olivier!
I did masters - Dark, Flat and Ofset, that side works in ISIS!
But..
Now in my traning folder have :

Calibration-1.fits
Cosme.lst
MasterDark.fits
MasterFlat.fits
MasterOffset.fits
sun-1.fits

ISIS 1.image page, I open sun-1 pic, the picture opens ok, then next step
I click "Next"and ISIS say, "cant find sun-11.fit image" ???
Cant get futher :|

In the generic name case, remove the numbers and let only the generic name : sun-

And in the folder you must have all your sun raw data :
sun-1
sun-2
sun-3
...
sun-7

Thank you for your patience Olivier!
Now i have files:

Calibrating.fits
Cosme.lst
MasterDark.fits
MasterFlat.fits
MasterOffset.fits
sun-1.fits
sun-2.fits
sun-3.fits
sun-4.fits
sun-5.fits
sun-6.fits
sun-7.fits

Result is same ISIS want picture sun-11 to go further. I made Giff my actions..

Futer investigation:
If I first open picture sun-2, ISIS want picture sun-21 to go further.
If I first open picture sun-3, ISIS want picture sun-31 to go further.
If I first open picture sun-4, ISIS want picture sun-41 to go further... and so on..

Cheers!

Timo,

Go to the 'General' tab. In the lower part of the frame, look the "Suffix object" and add the symbol - ('-').

See here : http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/isis/guid ... uto_en.htm. (aspect of general tab). I admit, the info is not easy to find, very sorry.
