AT 2020nlb a possible Supernova in M85

Post by Robin Leadbeater »

https://wis-tns.weizmann.ac.il/astronot ... e/2020-126

Caught very early (mag 17.4 last night) by ATLAS but if type Ia could perhaps reach ~mag 12 (eg SN 1960R B mag 11.7)

Cheers

Now confirmed at type Ia. On the rise (currently ~mag 16 but could reach mag 12) Too low for me in a bright summer sky unfortunately

Now mag 14 and still rising. 2 professional observatories have spectra now according to the TNS astronotes for this object but neither has been made public.

Finally just past maximum (Vmag 12.2) 3 weeks after discovery. Curiously, the classification spectrum submitted to TNS has still not been made public
