Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9
Another peculliar nova
Plateau at maximal luminosity, no jitters or oscillations at the date.
The various emission lines remain strong.
He I lines persist.
Variation of a few lines from Echelle spectra secured by Joan Guarro and François Teyssier at the remote station SMM-SP and Olivier Garde (2021-03-28.145)
Note the very fast changes in the absorption profiles in less than 1 day (spectra obtained on March, 28th.
Echelle spectrum secured by F. Teyssier with the remote station SMM-SP using the new echelle spectrograph designed and build by Joan Guarro:
It works well!
More details about this new wonderful tool: http://spectro-aras.com/forum/viewtopic ... 7&start=40
The various identification of lines are correct.
Note that even in low resolution spectra one can add Si II

Hello all,
Here is my update for the monitoring of the nova Cas 2021.
The following spectra were obtained with my Alpy 600, respectively, the 29th of March at 20 h 00 TU (resolution of 528, JJ = 2459303.3334) with an acquisition time of 36 min (12 x 180s) and the 30th of March at 20 h 01 TU (resolution of 518, JJ = 2459304.334) with an acquisition time of 39 min (13 x 180s) :
Evolution of the Nova Cas 2021 from March 20 to 30 with the addition of the identification of the Si II lines (see previous post by François Teyssier) :
Evolution of the Halpha line : the changes are obvious even at low resolution !
Clear skies,
Christophe BOUSSIN

A "far" IR spectrum taken by using Star'Ex + 300 lines/mm grating blazed at wavelength 1 micron + ASI294MM camera :
The Pashen line # 8 in emission at 10049 A is easily now detected. For the fun, the Vega spectrum up to Pashen #7 line at 10938 A :
A possible record in amateur astronomy ?

Superbe !
C'est Paschen gamma ? Mais étons encore en astronomie amateur
Voir si des caméras IR serait adaptées pour cet usage ?

Hi all,
Very interesting all this data about the Nova and his evolution. Good follow Christophe
Here is a new spectrum of the Nova Cas 2021 with an Alpy600 the 4th of april, on C8 f/6.3 - Atik460Ex - 16 x 90s exp.

Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9
A long plateau (and no oscillations) at max.
and emits a continuous wind (until the accreted material is burnt)
Of course this behavior deviates strongly from a "uniform model".
No problem, I'll have a place in Hell and good company.
Of course, daily coverage is strongly recommended! Even if (and because) the variations are very faint.
Thanks in advance,
François
From my knowledge, it looks that the envelop remains at giant dimension (~ 1 uA as an order of magnitude) , doesn't recede (as in the case of a classical nova),and emits a continuous wind (until the accreted material is burnt)

Hello,
That is Nova Cas 2021 two nights comparison, it seems there are a recurrent tendency to come back to a Halpha "P Cyg" situation.
Regards, J. Guarro.

Re: Alert! Nova Cas 2021 mag 9
Hello all,
Thank you Matthieu, I also hope that you will be able to follow the evolution of this nova and make a presentation of it on your website stellartrip.net !
Here is my new update for the monitoring of the nova Cas 2021.
The following spectra were obtained with my Alpy 600 :
the 31th of March at 19 h 53 TU (resolution of 528, JJ = 2459305.3286) with an acquisition time of 39 min (13 x 180s) the 1st of April at 20 h 10 TU (resolution of 515, JJ = 2459306.3406) with an acquisition time of 35 min (7 x 300s) : the 2nd of April at 19 h 58 TU (resolution of 522, JJ = 2459307.3318) with an acquisition time of 39 min (13 x 180s) : the 3rd of April at 20 h 05 TU (resolution of 523, JJ = 2459308.3365) with an acquisition time of 42 min (14 x 180s) : the 4th of April at 20 h 09 TU (resolution of 526, JJ = 2459309.3394) with an acquisition time of 39 min (13 x 180s) : Evolution of the Nova Cas 2021 from March 20 to April 4 : François, thank you for these informations !
I note that the general appearance of the spectrum remains the same over the days with variations mainly visible on the Halpha line.
Evolution of the Halpha line : Joan, I agree the P Cyg profile is once again clearly visible even at low resolution !
The Si II lines at 6347 and 6371A are still clearly visible. And, it also seems to me that 2 other lines of Si II at 5958 and 5979A are visible in the spectrum of the nova... ? Unfortunately, the weather did not allow me to continue this daily monitoring...
I hope others spectroscopists will have better luck !!
Clear skies to all !!
Christophe BOUSSIN
