It is now mag 12 and still rising. No amateur spectra yet? I am surprised. (Only clouds for me since discovery)

Re: supernova SN 2023ixf in M101 !
A low resolution (ALPY600) spectrum last night (poor conditions, high cloud, twilight
gives a good SNID match to SN 1998S (type IIn)
downloadable from the BAA database
https://britastro.org/specdb/data_graph ... s_id=13774
It could be bright enough now for high resolution spectroscopy from a good observing site
Cheers

An animation showing the evolution over the past week. (The temperature is dropping and the flash ionisation phase He lines have gone)

Catching up with some more animations (I am still following it but at lower resolution with the ALPY200 now it is ~mag 16.5)
This one is in both absolute and relative flux

Now a year old so here is a spectrum in the nebula phase at V mag ~18 (tough in moonlight and the twilight skies here at this time of year)
Here is the animation from September 2023 - February 2024 showing it moving into the nebular phase
Cheers
