Y Gem: new bright symbiotic star

Post by Francois Teyssier »

Y Gem is bright (V = 9 to 10) semi-regular variable known as X-rays and UV emitter.

RA = 07 41 08.52
DE = +20 25 44.33

A recent publication (Guerrero+,2024) establishes its status of symbiotic star (accretion powered):
https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2024a ... G/abstract

The spectrum (echelle R = 9000, at Observatory SMM-SP) shows a nice emission lines spectrum, including [Ne III], [O III], [O I], [N II], probably He I 5876.

Several characteristics are still not well established.

Spectra are welcome to develop the study.
Notably: echelle spectra, near UV and high resolution H alpha (usefull for an estimation of the diameter of the accretion disk)
One spectrum a week should be a good cadency.
