PNV J17335943-3606216
Dear All
I took a spectra of this PNV tonight (4th June)and it cetainly looks like a nova. It has a mag of V=13.5 but brighter in R and I
It has an intense Ha emission with a FWHM of 1830 km/s This is wider than Christians measurement from yesterday.
There is evidence of Fe emission as well.

Very good spectrum from your productive observatory Terry !
By comparison my version of PNV J17335943-3606216 taken the
June 3.960, 2003 with Alpy 600 spectrograph (R=600).
The object is at very low elevation from France (delta = -36° !)
and the telescope used is small (200 mm).
I observe 1400 km/s but I have corrected by some instrumental
windening effect (finite resolution of the spectrograph).
It is clear Halpha intensity increase.
Try to continue to observe this object, ideal for you Terry.

The 2 lines are 6158.2 O I and 6247.6 Fe II
There are also low SN lines at 5234.6 Fe II and 5276.0 Fe II.
The SN is not high enough at those frequencies to be certain. Unfortunately I currently have cloud and this is forecast to continue for a few more days so I can't do any follow up images.

I'm skeptical.
O I 6158.2 doesn't appear in the published lists of lines in novae.
The common lines OI are in IR, noticelly, 8446 and 7773
Here's an almost complete list of lines for novae from Williams, 2012 : http://www.astronomie-amateur.fr/Docume ... _Novae.pdf
When an Iron line from a multiplet appears, you must have the others lines of the multiplet.
So you can try to find the 3 lines of the multiplet Fe II (74) : 6148, 6417, 6456
The spectrum of this very red and inusual nova is difficult interpreting
Perhaps you could raise the question to Jennifer on AAVSO forum ?

You have much more knowledge on this than I do. I just measured the position and matched the measurement with the list of FeII lines towards the botton of your site http://www.astronomie-amateur.fr/Projet ... Novae.html
The O I line is on the list.
It might be clear enough to take a follow up spectra tonight so I will try.

Follow up spectra from last night. The magnitude has fallen from V= 13.50 I= 9.83 on 4/6/13 to
9/6/13 V= 14.70 I= 10.72
The spectra now has a much stronger Ha line and the Fe lines are now much more obvious.

I think you'll find easily the FeII (74) lines in this spectrum.

From last night an observation of nova Scorpii from Toulouse. The object is now faint,
but Halpha intensity increase :
This Alpy 600 reveal the near infrared part of the spectrum. Here a comprarison of my 4 and 13 June observations:
The OI lines are now very intenses (at 7773 A and 8446 A). Also the infrared CaII near 8550 A.
The Hbeta line is also faintly visible.
Note the orientation of the 200-mm telescope from France during nova observation
