Invitation
==========

Short: http://www.spektralklasse.de/index_e.htm

Long below

From May 1 to May 3 2015, the VdS section SPECTROSKOPY will
organize their annual Spectroscopy Conference, this time in
Freiburg near Straßburg in the south-west of Germany.
We are happy to invite all astronomers interested in spectroscopy,
especially beginners and young colleagues to take part in this
conference. A VdS membership is not necessary.
Based on lectures, a poster session and a demonstration of
different devices we will have a friendly exchange and discussion
about questions and problems related to spectroscopy..
Conference location
The charming city of Freiburg in southwestern Germany is
surrounded by the mountains of the Black Forest to the east and
open to the Rhine valley to the West. With its famous cathedral,
the “Bächle” (a system of very small artificial rivers) and many
other tourist attractions Freiburg is always worth a visit. The
adjacent regions of Switzerland and France are attractive
destinations, too.
The conference house “Waldhof – Akademie für Weiterbildung” is
situated in the eastern suburb Littenweiler (postal address: Im
Waldhof 16, 79117 Freiburg; homepage: http://www.waldhoffreiburg.
de). Surrounded by old tall trees we find optimum
conditions for our conference in an old mansion: a big lecture
hall, accommodation, full board (details and prices see below).
Transportation
We chose Freiburg for our conference to offer participants from
southern Germany, Switzerland and eastern France a relatively
short and comfortable journey. Freiburg can easily be reached by
car (via highway A5/E35, B31), by fast trains (ICE, TGV), and by
plane (via EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg). The big
international airports Frankfurt and Zurich are two hours away by
train. The conference house can be reached by public
transportation from Freiburg central station (tram no. 1 and local
train to Neustadt, stop “Littenweiler”). From the station
Littenweiler it is about a 15 minutes walk to the conference
house.
Funding
Students and pupils may apply for discreet support from our Youth
Fund.
Conference Programme
The programme will start on Friday evening with dinner.
Afterwards, you will have the possibility to meet old friends, get
acquainted with the other participants, discuss and relax in a
casual atmosphere with a glass of beer or good local wine. On
Saturday and Sunday morning interesting lectures, posters and
devices will be presented. The conference ends after lunch on
Sunday. You can easily find further information about registration
and the programme on our conference website http://www.spektralklasse.de,
which will be updated regularly. Conference languages are German
and English.
We offer a permanent internet forum for news and discussions about
spectroscopy at http://spektroskopieforum.vdsastro.de.
