Finally sat down to start learning the ISIS program using the Alpy 600 tutorial and immediately hit a wall. I'm using an Atik 420M camera and Artemis image capture software. I tried loading a raw FIT image -- HD15558_003.fit. Got this error message: ERREUR : le chemin du repertoire de travail n'est pas fourni. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Thanks.

Re: Learning ISIS
Jim,
I remember for the same wall when started to leran ISIS: you need to name your files in a very strict way (<filename>-<number_without_zero>.fit).
It is somewhere written precisely in the non-Alpy wiki's (maybe it should be better highlighted, I think).
Even more tricky is the calibration file name (it's impossible to guess), fortunately possible to override and ISIS tells the name so easier to rename the local file to it.
Also don't forget to set your working directory in the last tab.

Re: Learning ISIS
Hello Jim,
For the French version of ISIS :
You have to go to the "Configuration "tab and you must set the "Repertoire de travail" field with the directory where all your files are in.
The Configuration tab is the first tab you have to fill : working directory, spectral database directory, GNUPLOT directory, Observer site and FIT extension.

Re: Learning ISIS
Thank you, Peter, I will make changes to file name as you suggest.
Indeed, Vincent and Jacques, I have not indicated the working directly as noted. Many thanks.
There is quite a bit of documentation to go through and absorb. Hopefully, I won't be too big a pest to the group while climbing up the learning curve.
Your patience and assistance is very much appreciated.

Re: Learning ISIS
Jim,
I wrote a basic beginners guide last year for students here at UWA. It's in English and although just the basics, includes IR correction and some extra bits at the end. It can be downloaded here:
http://spice.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploa ... tra-v2.pdf
(you may have to copy and paste the entire link into your web browser - let me know if it doesn't work)
Hopefully it's useful.

Many thanks, Paul
Lots of useful information. Very nice work! Between your guide and Leadbeater's translation of Buil's Alpy 600 processing guide, I should be able to move forward very nicely.
Starry nights!
Jim
