Francois,
The issue here is not that ISIS is a very capable, well developed and well accepted piece of amateur processing software. We all know and respect that.
But to say it's the only way of producing "high level" "high quality" results is misleading and wrong.
There are many other software packages available to the amateur which are capable of producing repeatable quality outcomes.

Recommended but not mandatory. I think it's clear.
It means that all spectra well calibrated in wavelength and correctly corrected for atmospheric and instrumental response are welcome and accepted in the base, regardless of the soft.
