Re: New transcient, perhaps a nova
I'm late to the party on the Asassn-17hx, but while at my dark sky, high altitude site I got a LISA spectra on 26 July 2017:
All element line identifications are tentative. I'll get another shot at this in two weeks from the same site......maybe
I'll have my LhiresIII up and running by then!
James

Nice Spectrum, Umberto. Decline toward nebular phase.
James: correct, unless He I. The lines are Fe II, multiplet 42
He I will appear latter when the recessing photosphere will be hotter and so hot enough to ionize He
All the best,
François

Re: New transcient, perhaps a nova
Wow ! Even allowing for the change in continuum flux between the two dates (~1 mag at R, AAVSO data) that is a big change

Hi,
NOVASCT2017 has moderated its growth in the Halpha and has decreased to its emission in the Hbeta.
Regards, Joan.
