I am trying to get a profile in ISIS when I press go error message-The vertical co-ordinate of the spectrum (y-value) is not valid- pops up what have I missed ?

It's difficult to answer your question without screen copy of ISIS screens

when you display your image of the spectrum of VV Cep in ISIS, check the "graticule" (ie: reticule) and verify you have the right Y position of your spectrum, the proper binning area (your spectrum must be all in this area and should not flow over but the area shouldn't be too large, and the background areas which should be correct as well.

See in particular the section that contains "Check "Graticuke", then press the "Binning zone adjusting"...
