Hello,

Mira are variable stars with a long period (several months) and very large amplitude.

A list of maxima is available for several mira stars: http://etoilesvariables.fr/public/previ ... ev2011.pdf
They are excellent targets for low resolution work with Star Analyser, Lhires III (150 gr/mm) or LISA. At maximum eShel spectra can also be taken. In other words, those mira variable stars are very good targets for beginners after you have taken of course some reference stars such as A0V type... :-)

See Dale Mais paper on the subject: http://www.astronomie-amateur.fr/Docume ... bility.PDF

en français, voir le site de François Teyssier: http://www.astronomie-amateur.fr/feuill ... Miras.html
