Hello,
some days ago I noticed about a new project from the BRITE -Constellation network. The goal is to obtain time-series (resolution better than 15 min) spectroscopy of epsilon Persei, in order to obtain data about the pulsations of this beta-Cep star.
I don't have more details about this campaign but I tried to obtain some spectra of this star with the DADOS working close to R=5000. With this set-up, I centered the observations in the H-beta and H-gamma bands. Anyone is currently observing this star or has more information about this campaign?
Greetings!
Fran

Re: Epsilon Persei (BRITE)
Hello Fran,
I am afraid I do not have any information of what exactly is required but have you tried contacting the P.I. s? Their emails are here
https://www.aavso.org/aavso-brite-targets
(some of the things I would be interested to know are - time period, resolution, SNR, flux and wavelength precision and contact details of any other amateurs involved)
Cheers
Robin

Re: Epsilon Persei (BRITE)
I have recently exchanged a couple emails with Gerald Handler who, along with Elzbieta Zoclonska, is gathering data for this object and he says the best region to concentrate on are the Si III lines at 4553, 4568, and 4575 Angstroms. Emails are:
Gerald Handler: gerald@camk.edu.pl
Elzbieta Zoclonska: ela@camk.edu.pl
Here's a link to the page calling for observations (not a LOT of info there....)

Re: Epsilon Persei (BRITE)
I wonder if it is similar to the BRITE campaign on Deneb ?
http://forum.vdsastro.de/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=4163
details about the observations required are detailed in this pdf
http://forum.vdsastro.de/download/file.php?id=5763
I used the Si II lines to monitor the radial velocity to as high as possible precision using the LHIRES III and lamp lines superimposed during the star exposures from a "filly" lamp mounted at the telescope aperture
