HD237091 and Mussol

Hi :
This is one of the stars fainter than I do with the Mussol.
For guiding the telescope, I use the Audela for its simplicity, ( "Simplicity, is the highest sophistication" ) and performance (designed to guide telescope spectrograph) and agility, the Audella is a very good tool.
The Audela, it would be the best software if it could improve the monitoring since it gives errors. If the authors could fix it, I would be very grateful them.
Friendly, Joan.

That is a very good result Joan! I'm happy that Mussol works so well, also for guiding.
A lot of nice observations with the new spectrograph!
Un abbraccio,
Paolo

Hi Joan,
Have you mesure que efficiency of your spectrograph ? (exposure time vs SNR)

Ciao Paolo, come stai ?
Thank you for your words of encouragement. I wish that winter has already happened here in L'Aquila. We miss your observations.
Un forte abbraccio, Joan.

Bonjour Olivier,
The observations are using an SC16. In this case, the signal was low in 1920 in the most intense and 350 of intensity for the background (on 65535 levels).
The figure is the result of 10 integrations, of 500 seconds (at least try to make eight integrations for each star).
Possibly if I had done integrations of 1,000 seconds had gone better signal, or could have done a faint star.
Bien cordialement, Joan.

Hi Joan, Olivier,
Everything is fine here (I hope it will last). Started back with some Be and symbiotic stars.
Perhaps a good target for SNR comparison (Mussol vs eShel) is WR140. You both have some spectra on which you can measure it (taking into account any instrumental difference). I tried to use ISIS SNR (2) or SNR (3) values (for local intervals or global profile respectively).
All the best!
Paolo

Ciao Paolo,
I think there are many differences between eShel and Mussol. Both have a similar resolution. The Mussol is an adaptation of the Echelle built by C.Buil, which he describes on its website.
As for the size limit (you already know as good observer), there are many factors that determine a "limiting magnitude", one of them is the seeing. If the seeing is bad, you can lose between one or two magnitudes.
Saluti tanti, un forte abbraccio a te e a Umberto, Joan.
