Hi all,
A new version of PlotSpectra is available from the following link: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvXqhKI5kEGRjEhdaQ6jaj8AHx_L
As always uninstall the old version first.
I have added a few features suggested by François Teyssier.
- The setup menu now includes a choice for red (default) or black leader lines for line annotations. I am still working on vertical annotation text.
It requires low level graphics rendering to the plot window and keeping the text properly positioned will take a lot of work.
- The line measurement window now includes the parameter FWZI - a line width at a user selectable height (or depth for the case of absorption lines).
- Line measurements can now be saved to a list that can be copied to the clipboard or saved as a csv file.
While the measurement window is open it is possible to move to a new line by using the new "plot center choices" button.
You can also reposition to a new line by double clicking on the main plot window or by bringing up the subplot setup window.
It is also possible to move to a new series using the drop down list on the main window. In this way many measurements can be added to the list.
- The measurement reference is no longer fixed to the center of the subplot. There is a checkbox that decouples this and makes
the reference name and wavelength user enterable. This would be useful for measuring lines that have very large velocity shifts.
Enjoy,
Tim

Re: PlotSpectra version 1.3 now available
Thanks a lot Tim
A very very great tool!
Just a question: why limiting the high for FWZI at 4% and not 0%?
Cheers,
François

Re: PlotSpectra version 1.3 now available
Thanks Tim just trying it out. I have some files with .FITS as the extension and they did not show up either under the FILES ->OPEN fit files (*.FIT) or All files (*.*). If I open it in ISIS and save as .FIT then it opens ok but it would be good to have it open .FIT or .FITS.
In fact on my machine All files (*.*) does not show any files just folders. Not a big issue but might be worth tidying up.
Thanks Andrew

Hi Andrew,
You can change .fits to .fit just using windows "rename" tool

Thanks François, I did know that but I used ISIS to check there were no other problems. Having to keep changing them from package to package (or changing the package defaults) should not be necessary.

Re: PlotSpectra version 1.3 now available
Hi Andrew,
I have fixed the open file dialog so that it now shows *.fit and *.fits files (and fixed the *.* behavior as well)
François,
I had simply copied the center position control which had a 4% limit and used it as the fwzi control.
My routine always searched inwards from the extents of the selected region. With this approach noise on the spectrum can create problems for very low % values which is why I had set the minimum to 4%.
I have now changed the routine so that for values less than 50% the search is performed outward from the previously calculated half max points (but only as far as the extent of the selected region).
The minimum for both controls is now 0%. If the selected region over which to measure does not include the chosen % values then the measurements that are reported are rather poor extrapolated values. Be careful when selecting the region over which to measure.
