First light of a scaled down version of C Buil's VHIRES spectrograph ( http://www.astrosurf.com/buil/vhires/test.htm ) using a Borg 55FL telescope and a Richardson 110 l/mm grating Blazed at 65.4 deg. This is the single order version with a 7nm H alpha filter selecting the order.

Some more adjustment need making to center the H alpha line on the ASI1600 MM-Cool CMOS camera.

The design aim was to get R ~ 20,000 double my MRes R ~ 10.000 and similar to a LHIRES III but fiber coupled with 50 micron fiber.

Hi Andrew,

Great !!!! Have you some pictures of your spectrograph ?

High Olivier,

Two snaps of the HighRes spectrograph before it goes to the observatory.

The telescope is a Borg 55FL f/4.5 fl 250mm and the grating is a Richardson 110 l/nn with a ruled area of 56 x 142 so it matches the Borg quite well.

It is about a half scale version of Christian's VHIRES

Just for fun a comparison of VHIRES on the moon and a snowy day in Delamere. You can see the difference in resolution and spectral range. Obviously I have not removed the Blaze yet on my spectra.
