The continuum in the spectrum posted in the ATel is much flatter than mine, though the features are identical. It was quite low at the time (~30deg), though the reference star was at a similar altitude so the extinction correction should have been roughly ok. It will be interesting to see followup spectra.
The comparison with sn2017eaw is interesting. I thought the width of the lines was greater than I had seen before for novae and even ran the spectrum though GELATO just in case, though without a decent match. Is the brightness increase (~11 magnitudes) and velocity ~2600km/s higher than typical for a nova?
V329 Per is a known dwarf nova. Are there any other examples of a dwarf nova undergoing a classical nova-like outburst ?
