Test new configuration

Post by Antonio Garrigos »

Hello, testing my new setup with a C11 (F/10) and Lhires III at 2400 l/mm. all mounted on the 511mm. The star is alpha dra, there is a line (6566.888) that I do not see in the spectra that you are downloading of the same object, I am looking at what it may be due to.

It is indeed an artifact in one of the images of your spectrum (a badly corrected hot spot ?). It is not critical at all. Look at your 5 images one by one and you may find the origin.
It is very easy to see that this is not a real line: the thinnest physical lines that can be observed are the telluric H2O lines. Your pseudo line is much finer, so it is an artificial signal and not real.

Think of sending your spectrum to the STAROS database, for the alpha Dra campaign: https://staros-projects.org (!)

Hello again, I have looked for hot pixels and I have not seen them, even in images with them the rays are directed upwards, I think it could be a cosmic ray, I have processed the images again and this is the result after passing the appropriate filter, it has been removed keeping the 5 original images.
The image acquisition camera is the ATIK 460ex and the slit viewing camera is the ASI178MM.
I will try to provide this spectrum plus the one that I have taken tonight also from alpha dra.
I've been opting for spectra with the 510cm and a 2x barlow for years but I haven't been able to process them, just see the curves with maximdl, so I'm somewhat familiar with Lhires III, although I need to improve the handling more.
Thank you very much.
