BF Cyg

Fresh spectra from today, just before sunrise: _bfcyg_20150324_091_psomogyi.png R~3500 (LhiresIII + 600/mm + 23um slit). I didn't feel it as bright as 9.5 mag on AAVSO, was still hard to guide on (might had a defocus of the scope), some noise present but the spikes to the left are real. But, continu...

Symbiotic stars: V694 Mon, AG Dra, T CrB, V443 Her

Yesterday caught a foggy night (between 2 and -5C), explored further LHires with 600/mm grating. Lots to tune, star image suboptimal. I was still pushing the buttons manually, solved remote calib fully only later today. V694 Mon (within trees): _v694mon_20150308_0320_psomogyi.png Noticed later I for...

Re: Raies d'émission inhabituelles, pollution ou autre ?

Hubert, I've seen this error at others too, but to me it usually appears just as a small Z-shaped ripples (> 14 mag objects with the Alpy). The problem I think the smile effect calibraion is too ideal - in reality it's bended and has a triangle shape instead straight line -, so I think it works well...

Re: LHires first light

Okay, noticed I've put in the Ar-Ne lamp (seen tiny Ar lines I could fit to at IR end, after summing 11 exposures of 0.2 secs). Also learned how to fix bad guesses in CALIB\g600.lst: set the polynom to order 1, then spot the outstanding value in the ISIS logs. Setting it back to order 2, I've got RM...

Re: LHires first light

Thank you Francois, yes it was the 600 grating.
A more correct calibration is in progress, then I will send it.

Re: Greetings from Hungary

Gabor,

Feel welcome, I hope you can get a starter kit soon so that you can get a feel of the universe outside - by practice and theory at the same time!

Cheers,
Peter

LHires first light

I have attached the LHiresIII to my 250/1000mm Newt (had to collimate it on guide star ;-) ), have put in an APM barlow (2.67x). I've also done the calib upgrade, but still operated manually (mini XLR plug is missing). Looks to be a usable setup. First time calibration (1 times for all): flat: + neo...

Re: U Gem in outburst

Nearly started before Francois's last spectra, a 5 hours exposure (with some technical breaks): _ugem_20150306_793_psomogyi.png Animated gif of every 2 x 20 minute exposures - except last that was 3 x 20 min: _ugem_20150306_793_981_psomogyi.gif Ref. star was: 79-Gem, taken only 4 times (using averag...

Re: SS Aur in outburst

Joan, thank you but the exceptional season has been ended here ( https://www.meteoblue.com/hu/magyarorsz%C3%A1g/id%C5%91j%C3%A1r%C3%A1s-tata ). Waiting till this weekend if you or others come up with new capture, and I will make a series in the newsletter. Just noticed your +1 unpublished spectra of...

Re: SS Aur in outburst

Saturday and Sunday (probably the last from me), further blue continuum drop: SSAur_20150214_15.png Notice on technical difficulties, not to do same mistake by others: - Saturday's run just took 2 hours, in perfect conditions - Sunday I was careless, first 1-2 hours while Newton + environment coolin...
