ASASSN-15bp
Foggy weather, 3 hours exposure (overweighted the last 1 hour where had much better SNR). This is the first real test of the new ATIK 414EXM: _asasn15bp_20150126_932_psomogyi.png Slit a bit shifted (quick setup), guided on a different star: _asasn15bp_X2_psomogyi.png I had lots of trouble with calib...

V2428 Cyg
Have read the notice about V2428 Cyg, had a little sky only at Christmas. Guide view: field.png Isis reduced 2D image (without UV part, scaled to 50%): isis_2d.png 4 x 10 minutes exposure, it was very low (tree level). I was rather uncertain to publish it due to the big noise: v2428_spec.png I estim...

Re: Possibile nova in Aries mag 11
Fog allowed me this yesterday evening (+1 mag to stars...), red part is just noise and that's why Ha is not visible (have not cut at 6000A only for continuum). Anyway it's very blue. Wanted to shoot more, but clouds dived in unexpectedly. psnari.jpg psnari_slit.png Slit view is distorted toward edge...

Re: Outburst of VSX J213806.5+261957 (ugwz in Pegasus)
Had one more occasion yesterday, the whole weekend's result: _vsxj213806_20141025_26.png Note: the 20141025_332 name has a 12-hours skew error - came from OrionStudio's time field limited by 12-hours without any AM/PM info, disagreeing with my script that fixes date field to make ISIS runnable and w...

Re: ISIS - gnuplot
Just FYI.
I had to put the gnuplot install really under "C:\gnuplot", otherwise ISIS didn't work with "C:\Program Files (x86)\gnuplot" even though set that long path in ISIS setting tab.
Maybe special chars / long path name issue.
Now it works.

Re: Alpy600 fine tuning
Doing exactly the same, having only ~500 resolution too (via Alpy cal.lamp + ISIS v5.4.1 wizard giving this value). All I can achieve is having better average focus on a wider field (edge areas still blurred - that got focused only when middle is out of focus...). Using a Landlite 15W "A class&...

Guiding experience
I've created this topic to share my 1st experiences with guiding on a ~12mag object (with 250/1000 scope + Alpy guide module). I expect here a deep discussion (couldn't find this topic by sorting each alphabetically....) Last weekend I've got a new Lodestar X2, retiring my ASI 130mm (the yellow 1/2&...
