Re: Two spectroscopes,one telescope.

Very impressive.
I, like Robin, and others use the C11 on a NEQ6 mount.
With Astroart, plate solving, image acquisition preprocessing and guiding the setup works well for me.

Re: SNR in ISIS

There's a copy of the DER SNR spreadsheet in the files area of the astronomical spectroscopy group if you want to check it out.

Re: Guider camera reflection images

David, This is usual when guiding on bright stars. It’s caused by the reflections from and within the glass slit plate. Nothing to worry about. The glass slit plate can be cleaned using a air puffer, if dust persists then a careful wipe with IPA or Baader fluid should work. Remember the actual slit ...

Re: Sol'EX : a low cost instrument for solar observations

Olivier,
Normally we try to maximise the R value by using the largest l/mm grating available.
In the processing of the spectroheliogram image we can reduce the resolution (using multiple pixel rows) but can never increase it. ;)

Re: Sol'EX : a low cost instrument for solar observations

Just a hint to new SHG users..... How do you know if your slit gap is at the focus of the telescope? Normal method is to check the top/ bottom edges of the solar spectrum being recorded. When in focus, they should appear tight and crisp. A quick way to get you close.... Use a finder to look through ...
