Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
Dear all, thank you very much for the data you already obtained. First of all, Peter, I am not able to find your observations (V618 Sgr, V5590 Sgr, AS280) in the database. Gaia19dxh, Gaia21dxi (Paolo, Terry) - confirmed as non-symbiotic stars. I think that pulsations triggered the Gaia Science Alert...

Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
Hello everyone, for the second part of the project focused on suspected/misclassified symbiotic stars, we would like to collect the data on suspected symbiotic novae. Some of the objects were already observed as they were in the previous list. Still for some, it would be good to obtain another spect...

Re: Outburst of SS73 141
Hi everyone, great job, congratulation on the spectra of the challenging target! Overall, it seems, that it is the outburst of a classical symbiotic star (Z And-type), not a slow symbiotic nova. I have compiled an ATel in that sense: https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=14874. I think it would ...

Outburst of SS73 141
Information from Róbert Fridrich in FB Group "PACA_Transients": Symbiotic nova eruption or 'just' classic (ZAND-type) symbiotic outburst of SS73 141? Tadashi Kojima, who detected (see vsnet-alert 26105) the recent eruption/outburst requests further observations. Spectroscopic follow-up is...

Re: AR Pav in outburst
That is great, thank you!
I briefly summarized the information from your spectrum and from ASAS-SN photometry to an ATel: https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=14837, to encourage the community to keep an eye on the object.

AR Pav in outburst
Southern eclipsing symbiotic star AR Pav is detected in strong outburst (ASAS-SN g < 10). The star has been such bright only twice according to AAVSO LC since 1985 (in August 1989 and December 1997). The last two brightenings were detected in 2013 and 2014. ASAS-SN light curve here: https://asas-sn....

Re: Symbiotic recurrent nova RS Oph in ourburst !!!
Info from R. Fidrich in FB Group: K. Geary, Killann, Shercock, County Cavan, Ireland, reports an eruption of the recurrent nova RS Oph on Aug. 8.93 UT at visual magnitude 6.0. Independent detection of the eruption was reported by A. Amorim, Florianopolis, Brazil, who provides his visual magnitude e...

Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
Hello everyone, I am happy to announce, that the first paper on the suspected/misclassified symbiotics was accepted in MNRAS yesterday and is now available on arXiv: https://arxiv.org/abs/2107.05953 . Once again, many thanks to all the observers who participated in the campaign so far and whose resu...

TCP J18224935-2408280: new transient in Sagittarius
A new symbiotic candidate appeared in a dense region in Sagittarius. Mag between 13-14. The spectrum could confirm or reject the symbiotic nature. Jaroslav -------- Information from Patrick Schmeer: TCP J18224935-2408280 (ZAND:) (submitted to VSX) For discovery details and follow-up reports see http...

Re: Suspected/Misclassified Symbiotics: spectra required
Dear everyone, thank you for your continuing effort! Ibrahima, Peter, and Christophe, great job. Here are preliminary results on the observed targets: V562 Lyr : Observations of Ibrahima and Christophe are consistent with the M2 giant. As there are no emission lines in the spectra, and the star was ...
