Now there is an ATEL. Nobody seems to have taken a spectrum yet. https://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=15531 An Update on ASASSN-21qj: A Rapidly Fading, Sun-Like Star; Back With a Vengeance ATel #15531; M. Re: Blazar PKS 1424-414 (z=1.522) brightening
Nice work Terry. It is certainly a bit mind boggling to be able to measure something so far away, and to do it with amateur equipment is even more incredible. If 2SPot is able to take a spectrum with a slightly wider wavelength range by a few hundred angstrom each way, there are two possible absorbt...

well it went behind the sun and seems pretty wild for the last few months. Perhaps the 2Spot Alpy can reach that faint?

Likewise, thanks to all participants, I'm in Australia visiting family and the 5am local time time start was too early for me.
I'm looking forward to viewing the recording.
Cheers,
Hamish

Re: TCP J15244460-6059200
tom managed to get a second spectrum the next day, and Peter Velez got a blue/UV one with his UVEX on the same day as Tom's first observation. I managed a not so great one on the first night, data still to be reduced, as I was in the middle of a focuser upgrade. I think they will all be sent to Fran...

Re: gaia22bxd possible new Be Star?
Thanks robin, I was going to email you directly. Can send the fits files if interested. I have a couple of additional observations as I was not happy with whether the spectra roughness is intrinsic, or just low s/n.

gaia22bxd possible new Be Star?
gaia22bxd (http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts/alert/Gaia22bxd/ ) also notified as AT2022ksd https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2022ksd has brightened by about 0.3 magnitudes in the last 6 months, to about magnitude 9.7. I have taken several spectra, here is an addition of 2 consecutive days. Looks like ...

Re: driving glow-starter with very low voltage
I tried various series resistors but ithey seemed to disturb the tuning of the oscillator and the arc wouldn't strike. the lamp was most stable with no series resistor and fresh alkaline cells. Nimh cell voltage was too low to get an arc. I'm interested to see what the performance of the 12v version...
