Observing campaign of a new long-period eclipsing system

Post by Stella Kafka »

Friends,

We initiated a campaign requesting photometric and spectroscopic observations of the newly discovered eclipsing system ASASSN-21co. Archival data showcase a period of 11.9 years, with an eclipse duration of ~80 days. Recent ASAS-SN data have showcased that it just entered a new min, at V~11.7 mag. This is the first time we are covering the eclipse, and we are looking forward to revealing the nature of the two binary components. Snapshot observations (1-2 spectra/night) will be really valuable until after the eclipse is concluded. More information on the target can be found here: https://www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-732

We really need spectra, so I would really appreciate your contribution. All resolutions are welcome. We have no spectroscopic information, so anything will be new and will be included in relevant publications. Please submit your data to AVSpec (AAVSO Spectroscopic database).

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Best wishes - clear skies,
Stella.
