Astro Spectroscopy event of the year 2022

Post by Ernst Pollmann »

Dear colleagues!

The world wide most interesting astro spectroscopy event of the year 2022 will be the conference VEGA in Salzburg (Austria) for Amateurs in collaboration with the professional astronomy.
Professional astronomers and amateurs will report in talks and presentations of the recent state of modern research, observations and campaign results, methods of reduction, evaluation and interpretation of different object spectra (among others B stars, Binary stars and related objects).
The web address below will give an overview of the speakers, who will attend at the conference. Further information are available at the VEGA website:
http://www.astrophoto.at/VEGA/program-1.html

The early bird fee for participating at conference ends on January 1, 2022.
Please note: afterwards the normal fee applies!

Registration to participate:
https://www.astrophoto.at/VEGA/registration.html
We wish everyone a happy new year and especially good health!

Dear colleagues!

For all the interested people who intent to participate, here some additional information of the conference:
Almost all corona protection measures (e.g. mask etc.) were lifted in Austria. We hope it stays that way so that the conference will take place. At present there are not any contrary issues in this sense.

The program is almost fixed. For details, please look at:
https://www.astrophoto.at/VEGA/program-1.html

Most participants will arrive already on Wednesday 25. I'll be at the "Hotel Ammerhauser" from 6:30 p.m. to welcome you.
If you arrive on Thursday, please be in front of the Hotel at 8:30 a.m. We offer of course a carpool to the conference place, the observatory VEGA. It is also possible to go directly to the Observatory, but by 9:15 a.m. at the latest.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday, we have lunch in the Restaurant "Kaiserbuche" near the observatory. I would be happy to cover the cost for food and drink.

After the talks we drive return to the hotel. There is also the possibility to visit the observatory at night if the sky is clear and by arrangement. We are happy to meet up at the restaurant of the hotel to have a cosy together at evening.

It is planed to record all talks by video to offer that the participants. Please inform me, if you do not agree.

In case of any further questions, please contact me.
Have a good time. I´m looking forward to meet you at the VEGA 2022.
Best regards,
Manfred Schwarz

Hallo Ernst,

VEGA SPECTROSCOPY SYMPOSIUM is coming in a few days with a dense program with really interesting thematics and renowned speakers, unfortunately some of us won't  be attending this important event.

On the other hand, you know that in this Forum there are many observers well equipped with telescopes and spectrographs, almost all of them, - I believe -, on low resolution without specific observation programs, that is a discouraging feeling for the observational activity.

So interpreting, - I believe - thinking of some of us, I would ask you if you could help us to achieve some observation programs for low resolution spectrographs, also the high ones.

Sure that your contribution would increase the general encouragement and observational activity of this Forum and also an increment ofits scientific level.

In my humble opinion, there are many well experienced observers here who could do an excellent job on a Pro-Am collaboration.
What is your opinion about my purpose ? Is it realistic and feasible ?

Of course I'm not the rep of any majority, nor any minority, I've only expressed my concern and opinions.

Many thanks.

Die besten Wünsche, Joan.

Hi Joan,
I think there are a lot of other colleagues here within this forum, who could give also interesting and helpful inputs concerning your posting above. As you know, the field of my activity is constraint more on medium and high resolution spectroscopy, then within the low resolution field. I am intersted more in physics of stellar atmospheres and what happend there with time.
Back to your wishes: here are some articles which are showing examples of possibilities to contribute in terms of collaboration with other colleagues and the professional astronomy:

Hallo Ernst,

Many thanks for your quick reply where you give us a lot of interesting information especially dedicated to Low Resolution Obververs. I hope that it can stimulate some of them to follow programs where Low Resolution is the main goal and really necessary for the studies development.

All of that depends on the Low Resolution Observers' feelings now, I hope that they will be attached to some option. You know, I'm observing onR = 9000, but I've wanted to talk about it because in my opinion there seems to be a gap in these types of observations.

I sincerely wish you very successful results at VEGA Spectroscopic Symposium and I hope that you will show us the breaknews about
its interesting results soon.

Best wishes, Joan.
