The links to the CSV line lists for RR Tel and RS OPh both point to the same file RRTel_Id.csv Is that correct ?

Should be
http://www.astronomie-amateur.fr/Lines/ ... ph_d40.csv ?

Thanks

Hello at all,

RS Oph is around the 9 magnitude but it shows high activity in all its regions.

Regards, J.Guarro.

RS Oph is back in the morning sky.
V luminosity is low (~12), one mag under the pre-outburst but the red part of the spectrum should be at a higher level.
New spectra will be very welcome in the database to complete our excellent monitoring of the 2021 event

Hello all,

A paper related to the outburst of RS Oph in 2021 was published in the journal Nature Astronomy on 14 April :

"Proton acceleration in thermonuclear nova explosions revealed by gamma rays"
(Acciari 2022)

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41550-022-01640-z

https://arxiv.org/abs/2202.07681

The authors used ARAS spectra and acknowledge ARAS observers :

"We acknowledge with thanks the ARAS database (https://aras-database.github.io/database/index.html). The observers who contributed worldwide data used in this research are O. Garde, V. Lecoq, L. Franco, F. Teyssier, O. Thizy, C. Boussin, P. A. Dubovsky and D. Boyd."

A video from the Max Planck Institute illustrates the outburst of RS Oph and the production of gamma rays and energetic protons in this article :

Hello Christophe,

Many thanks for this information.

The video of the Max Planck Institute illustrates the outburst of RS Oph is very useful to understand the physics of this star.

Thank you Christophe.

To my knowledge, at least two other papers using our spectra are under publication process.

Hello all,

Yes Olivier, such animations are indeed very valuable to understand a little better the dynamics of the phenomenon !
Thank you François for this information, it's always very interesting to see that the spectra of the ARAS database are appreciated and can be useful in such studies !
To complete the discussion on RS Oph, here is a paper published in MNRAS which refers to the 2006 outburst and presents the evolution of its spectrum over about 250 days :

"Optical spectroscopy of the recurrent nova RS Ophiuchi – from the outburst of 2006 to quiescence" (Mondal 2018)

https://academic.oup.com/mnras/article/ ... 11/4768437

In particular, the evolution of the Fe lines at 5303 A [Fe XIV] (figure 15) and 6374 A [Fe X] (figure 16) are mentioned in this paper.
