A new nova in Sgr that is currently mag V=10.77
I have taken 2 spectra of it so far with my LISA.
Lots of change over 2 days.

Thanks for the tip Terry

I'm having a crack at this - though I'm a bit late this evening!

Terry

Here is my addition

I started far too late on this tonight so this is only 3 x 600s unbinned through my LISA (19 micron slit).

That said, its an interesting spectrum. I've had a stab at identifying some of the emission lines - Fe II mainly though there are a couple at 5880 and 5901 that I can't pick. Also there looks like a P Cygni profile developing in the H alpha emission which is unsurprising.

Worth keeping an eye on. Have you uploaded you spectra to AAVSO?

Pete

A low resolution spectrum from tonight, with the nova low in the west.

Here is an update from me.

Apart from the Balmer lines, Fe II is very prominent.

One to keep an eye on
