SimSpec and LISA configuration

Post by Peter Velez »

Here's another query for the LISA users.

I've been playing around with SimSpec. Its a very detailed spreadsheet - sadly, I don't believe I have correctly filled all the data fields. I can manage the Telescope, Seeing/Atmosphere, Camera and Target Star sections. I am struggling with the Spectrograph-specific fields.

I attach a screenshot showing the fields as I have completed them. I'm ok with the Collimator-Focal Length, Camera-Focal Length, slit width, Gratings and Granting-Diffraction order - the other fields are purely guesswork on my part.

It would be great to see what other LISA users have for these fields - they should be common to us all.

Thanks

Pete

Pete,
I don't exactly know what the total angle is for the LISA, or the spacing from the grating to imaging lens.
Based on the LISA Prototype info: 33.7 deg and 35.6mm.
Collimator 130mm
Imaging 88mm
300 l/mm grating (assumed to be 30x30mm)

The choice of camera and slit gap (15/19/23/35, 4mm height) will impact on the results.

You can take a look on the user manual :

Thanks for this Ken - that is just what I needed.

I was using an earlier version of SimSpec - the file you provided is very helpful.

Olivier, I fear I have spent far too many hours looking through the LISA manual lately! I couldn't find all the data I needed but will have another go

If Oliver can confirm the angle and spacing, then i think the results should be very close.
